Fun fact: my first idea for a title was “Scoundrel of My Heart”. I subsequently changed the title several times before settling on this one. I was original and stole it from a line in "Masquerade" from
Phantom.
I want to make it very clear that historical accuracy wasn’t a priority of mine in writing this. In fact, there is an appalling lack of the word “cravat” in this story. (I know, I know; I am absolutely shameless.) Normally, I take a very, very,
very long time to finish fic. And let me tell you, the deadline made me super nervous. Thank god the fest was extended, is all I can say. This story and I had a very rocky relationship. I loved it, I hated it, I didn't care for it at all. But it's done, and now that the stress of trying to finish it on time has been lifted from my shoulders, I have to admit that I love this stupid thing.
I used to read romance novels all the time, but it's been a while since I took the time to sit down and read one. Getting a chance to revisit that genre was definitely an adventure. So, here it is. It's not perfect, it's not historically accurate by any means, but it's mine and it's in on time. \o/ (And now I can stop feeling bad for working on other fics instead.)
